The **Budget Management Consultant** plays a pivotal role in orchestrating, coordinating, and scrutinizing the financial planning process across various departments and initiatives within the organization. This position is essential for determining the allocation of resources and projecting financial needs effectively.
Core Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting related to grants.
- Establish collaborative relationships with departments to gain insights into funding sources and cost structures.
- Collaborate with Senior Management and program leaders to formulate the agency's budget.
- Maintain and update reports using budgeting software.
- Adjust personnel resource allocations as necessary.
- Support departments in the development of their operational budgets.
- Evaluate budget proposals and provide guidance on cost coverage.
- Continuously update budgets and forecasts in response to evolving assumptions.
- Conduct variance analysis comparing budgeted versus actual expenditures.
- Prepare comprehensive budget reports for monthly evaluations with Senior Management.
- Assist in the creation of new project budget codes as required.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred; an Associate's Degree in Accounting is mandatory.
- For candidates with a Bachelor's Degree, a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in budgeting is required; for those with an Associate's Degree, 7 years of experience in the non-profit sector is necessary.
- Proficient understanding of GAAP, OMB Circulars, and advanced skills in Excel are essential.
- Experience with budgeting software and familiarity with non-profit financial management is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills are crucial.
- Ability to independently manage projects and resolve issues effectively.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
