KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Bagger Operator is tasked with the setup and operation of automated bagging machinery in a safe and efficient manner within the designated area.

  • Confirm bagger setup aligns with the scheduled production run, adjust machine controls as necessary, and change scoops when required.
  • Ensure appropriate packaging materials (bag rolls, bag stacks, bag seals) are readily available at the workstation.
  • Manually load bag seals, rolls, or stacks onto the bagging machine feeder as needed.
  • Operate bagging machines, overseeing the process that fills pre-weighed carrots into bags and feeds them into the quick lock machine.
  • Ensure that bags are securely closed, monitor bag quality, remove any non-conforming bags, and conduct quality checks.
  • Measure and adjust the amount of water injected into packages, modifying scales as necessary.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to identify unsafe conditions or required repairs.
  • Respond to metal detector alerts by halting the machine, retrieving the bag, and identifying the triggering item.
  • At the plant manager's direction, change bags following the correct procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, replenishing supplies as necessary.
  • Ensure bagger uptime and report any issues within a timely manner.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated reliable work history.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Capability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow instructions.
  • Proficient in using equipment and tools, adhering to instructions.
  • Certification on bagging machinery through Triangle is required.
  • Completion of Lock-out/Tag-out Awareness Training is necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six months to one year of experience in a food production or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations.
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are advantageous.
  • Prior experience with Triangle bagging machines is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exposure to cold/wet conditions (40 °F or below).
  • Interaction with moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
  • Able to lift, slide, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.

WORK SCHEDULE:

1st Shift – 5:30 AM to 3:30 PM; Rotating schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on departmental and business needs.
