KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Bagger Machine Operator is tasked with the setup and operation of automated bagging machinery in a safe and efficient manner within the designated production area.

  • Confirm bagger setup aligns with the scheduled production run, adjusting machine controls as necessary.
  • Ensure availability of packaging materials (bag rolls, stacks, seals) at the workstation.
  • Load bag seals and packaging materials onto the machine feeder as required.
  • Operate bagging machines, overseeing the process of filling bags with pre-weighed carrots and transferring them to the locking machine.
  • Ensure bags are securely closed, monitor quality, and remove any defective bags.
  • Adjust water injection levels and scales as needed.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on equipment to identify any safety issues or required repairs.
  • Respond to metal detector alerts by halting operations and investigating the cause.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, replenishing supplies as necessary.
  • Report any operational issues promptly to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated reliable work history.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Team-oriented with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Proficient in using equipment and tools as directed.
  • Willingness to obtain certification on bagging machinery.
  • Complete Lock-out/Tag-out Awareness Training.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Six months to one year of experience in a food production or manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), FDA, USDA, and EPA regulations.
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
  • Previous experience with Triangle bagging machines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Exposure to cold/wet conditions (40°F or below).
  • Interaction with moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and vibrations.
  • Ability to lift, slide, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods.

WORK SCHEDULE:

1st Shift – 5:30 AM to 3:30 PM; Rotating schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on operational needs.
