About the Role

In this role, you will lead a team of field engineers installing and starting up OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and custom equipment. The Manager, Installation and Integration Engineering plays a crucial role in bringing our state-of-the-art indoor vertical farms to life. The responsibilities start from the Factory Acceptance Test continuing through delivery and install, finishing with a complete commissioning and hand over to the Operations team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage: Direct, and coordinate the activities of Installation & Integration engineers, facilitating effective installation and commissioning of OEM and IP (Intellectual Property) equipment to enable end-to-end farm manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with program managers, technical program managers, growers, system architects, and farm operations staff to develop system requirements and set objectives that meet business goals.
  • Oversee Testing and Commissioning: Approve and supervise implementation of acceptance testing plans and commissioning protocols for various pieces of farm equipment.
  • Integrate Systems: Coordinate with controls and software area managers to integrate equipment to our customized data systems.
  • Develop Documentation: Define and implement a plan to develop process documentation (Standard Operating Procedures, One Point Lessons, and Cleaning Procedures) and equipment maintenance manuals.
  • Construction Coordination: Partner with Construction Manager(s) to define utility requirements (electrical, compressed air, water, etc.) and coordinate the installation and initial commissioning (functional testing) of farm processing equipment.
  • Validate Processes: Support the validation of line-level processes, throughput, and reliability before handing off to the Operations Team for production and the Process Integration Team for yield validation.
  • Meet Milestones: Ensure that projects/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience designing and supporting product development programs in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and/or light industrial sectors.
  • Education or experience equivalent to B.S. or higher degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or a closely related field.

  • Understanding of validation processes such as CQV or IQ, OQ, PX commissioning activities.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and keep work flows progressing.
  • Ability to use data and modeling to drive product and process decisions.
  • Capability and interest in working as both a leader and individual contributor, with a bias towards collaboration and action; some situations are best handled by managers who can dive deep into design details when needed.
  • Effective budget management.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel globally to manage and oversee projects.
