Position: Assistant General Counsel, Global Litigation

Overview:

Jabil Circuit is a leading diversified manufacturing and service provider with a vast workforce of over 140,000 employees across numerous facilities worldwide. The company has established a strong financial presence, generating significant annual revenue.

We are in search of a seasoned Litigation Attorney to join our esteemed Global Litigation Legal team at our headquarters. This role is crucial as it involves direct reporting to the VP, Deputy General Counsel - Chief Global Litigation Counsel, and requires close collaboration with various legal functions, global business teams, and external legal advisors. This position necessitates in-person engagement at our headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Take charge of formulating and executing effective strategies for resolving global commercial and employment disputes and litigation.
  2. Provide innovative legal solutions and tactical counsel to address complex challenges faced by Jabil's global business units promptly.
  3. Lead investigations and work alongside other departments to enhance Jabil's investigative procedures.
  4. Manage competing priorities, set appropriate goals with internal stakeholders, and ensure timely delivery of results.
  5. Utilize sound judgment to assess and communicate legal risks and advantages.
  6. Collaborate with legal functions and business stakeholders to develop, revise, and advise on policies and processes.
  7. Efficiently oversee commercial and labor & employment litigation, including pre-litigation disputes and claims.
  8. Effectively manage external counsel, including engagement, document management, discovery, budgeting, staffing, and strategic planning.
  9. Identify and mitigate legal risks proactively by creating and delivering training programs for business leaders on relevant laws and best practices.
  10. Draft legal documents such as demand letters, pleadings, discovery requests, settlement agreements, and other contracts.
  11. Handle legal matters in various jurisdictions, both domestic and international.
  12. Work with key internal clients to drive process enhancements, develop templates, and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  1. J.D. or equivalent legal degree and active membership in a State Bar.
  2. 8-11 years of litigation experience, ideally in both law firm and in-house environments within a global industrial context.
  3. Strong understanding of civil procedure and the discovery process.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively with business leaders, leveraging business principles.
  5. Experience in applying a business-oriented approach to legal problem-solving while recognizing legal complexities.
  6. Proven expertise in litigation management across multiple jurisdictions with minimal supervision.
  7. Demonstrated capability to lead change and improvements aligned with corporate goals and risk management needs.
  8. Experience in budget management and leading external counsel to meet strategic objectives.
  9. High integrity and ethical standards.
  10. Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills, with strong judgment and initiative.
  11. Ability to make informed decisions and a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  12. Proven ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  13. A proactive self-starter with the ability to manage multiple complex legal issues simultaneously.
  14. Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and building relationships at all organizational levels.
  15. Strong judgment, confidence, and professional presence, with respect for all colleagues.
  16. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience in international litigation is advantageous.
  2. Proficiency in a second language, such as Spanish or Mandarin, is a plus.
