Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Professional to join our team at the City of Odessa. As a key member of our Finance Department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including financial record-keeping, transaction monitoring, and analysis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control fiscal transactions related to grants, investments, and bank fee transactions.
  • Prepare and record required monthly journal entries for assigned accounting transactions and operations.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and maintain records as needed to support bank account reconciliations.
  • Perform reconciliation of assigned grant accounts and investigate and correct any differences or reporting errors.
  • Document all reimbursable grant expenditures and review financial grant reports for all assigned grant programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual single audit report schedule and coordinate the distribution of the City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
  • Perform assigned backup duties as needed, including daily cash balancing activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or closely related field with extensive education credits in accounting coursework.
  • 2 years of accounting or closely related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand operating manuals, financial data, and principles of accounting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in word, excel, and presentation software.
Working Environment

This is an office-based position that requires sitting for long periods of time. A Texas State Driver's License is required.
