Key Responsibilities:

  • Welcoming and guiding patients to examination rooms while preparing for the provider's consultations by gathering initial information and vital signs.
  • Reviewing patient medical records for essential information and ensuring accurate maintenance of patient demographics.
  • Verifying that all necessary intake documentation is completed accurately.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and clinic stations, ensuring adequate supply levels.
  • Assisting the healthcare provider during examinations and procedures while adhering to sterile techniques.
  • Coordinating and scheduling necessary procedures or tests.
  • Preparing injections and ultrasound equipment for provider use.
  • Entering relevant data into appropriate systems.
  • Facilitating communication between patients and providers, including relaying messages as directed.
  • Providing education to patients and their caregivers regarding specific care instructions as provided by the healthcare provider.
  • Upholding patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certification or diploma in Medical Assisting.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in a medical assisting role.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist in lifting patients weighing up to 300 lbs.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Records.
  • Willingness to travel between clinics in Illinois and Iowa as required.
