Key Responsibilities:
- Welcoming and guiding patients to examination rooms while preparing for the provider's consultations by gathering initial information and vital signs.
- Reviewing patients' medical histories for relevant information and ensuring accurate maintenance of patient records.
- Verifying that all necessary intake forms are completed accurately.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and clinic areas, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
- Assisting healthcare providers during examinations and procedures while adhering to sterile techniques.
- Coordinating and scheduling necessary tests or procedures.
- Preparing and assisting with injections and other medical tasks as directed by the provider.
- Inputting patient data into the appropriate systems.
- Facilitating communication between patients and providers, responding to patient inquiries as directed.
- Providing education to patients and their caregivers regarding specific care instructions from the provider.
- Upholding patient confidentiality and adhering to all HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Certification or diploma in Medical Assisting.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience in a medical assisting role.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist in lifting patients weighing up to 300 lbs.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Records.
- Willingness to travel between clinics in Illinois and Iowa as required.
