POSITION OVERVIEW
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for executing the daily activities outlined by the Activities Director. Your role is crucial in supporting and adhering to the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures of our Activity Program, while also complying with state and federal regulations.

Your primary objective will be to enhance the quality of life for each resident, taking into account their psychosocial, medical, and recreational preferences.


REQUIREMENTS


Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program with appropriate certification or verification from the educational institution, or successful completion of a military training program that includes the fundamentals of Basic Nursing Assistant Training.

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
A minimum of one year of experience in the healthcare sector, including volunteer work or personal experience with individuals with disabilities, is preferred.
Current knowledge of federal and state activity regulations is essential, along with the ability to interpret these guidelines.
Proficiency in reading and writing English is mandatory; bilingual skills may be advantageous depending on the facility's needs.
A valid driver's license is required.
Punctuality and efficiency in time management, particularly in relation to the activity schedule, are crucial.

Possess qualities such as empathy, compassion, enthusiasm, and a positive demeanor to effectively engage with residents, families, and colleagues.

Ability to relate to and work with individuals who may be ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally distressed is essential.

Effective communication skills are necessary for interaction with the community, healthcare professionals, and various organizations.

Understanding and managing emotional needs, both personally and within the team, is important.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 pounds.
May require lifting equipment, supplies, and occasionally rearranging furniture.
Must be able to move throughout the facility during work hours.

Must work independently, demonstrating flexibility, integrity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, family members, and staff.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide constructive feedback to the Activities Director to assess the achievement of facility and program objectives through a collaborative approach.

Lead a therapeutic, resident-centered activity program that continually aims to improve the quality of life for each resident, aligning with the Activity Mission and Philosophy.

Adhere to all Activity Policies and Procedures, as well as federal and state regulations.

Gain a comprehensive understanding of each resident's background, culture, life history, and medical needs to develop an appropriate person-centered activity plan.

Activities should be conducted daily, reflecting the schedules, choices, and rights of the residents.
Recognize and accommodate the communication needs of residents, including language services and communication aids.

Under the guidance of the Activities Director, conduct and complete initial and ongoing assessments related to social, medical, cognitive, communication, spiritual, and physical needs as they pertain to individual activities.

Document and maintain all required records as directed by the Activities Director.

Maintain Accurate Records:

Track Resident Daily Participation, Resident Progress Notes, Leisure Interest Surveys, and Activity Planning Sheets to effectively schedule and meet resident needs.

Assist in updating activity boards under the direction of the Activities Director, ensuring a creative and organized monthly theme.

Encourage community involvement by inviting local entities to participate in events and programs.
Assist with resident outings, which may include trips to shopping centers, movies, restaurants, and community events, including transportation to and from these activities.
Collaborate with the activity staff to ensure continuity of care and adhere to the activity schedule.
Work as part of a team with staff and volunteers.

Maintain the structure of the activity schedule and ensure all activities are conducted punctually; activities may not be canceled without the permission of the Activities Director.

Ensure that all equipment and supplies are kept in good condition.

Notify the Activities Director within 48 hours if new materials are needed for scheduled activities or if repairs are required.

Update calendars and boards on a daily basis.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
