Under general oversight, this role entails executing advanced financial support tasks and assuming comprehensive fiscal accountability within the district's financial office.

Key responsibilities include receiving, securing, and processing all negotiable instruments, conducting audits, coding, and submitting invoices for payment or processing payments via purchasing card, along with posting transactions to the ledger.

Responsibilities also encompass receiving, auditing, and processing Emergency Assistance Payments. The individual will maintain a ledger of budget expenditures and provide monthly reports to the Regional Comptroller. Duties include auditing requests, issuing checks, and reconciling multiple checking accounts. Additionally, the role involves preparing deposits, traveling to the bank, and ensuring all accounts are balanced monthly. It is crucial to keep all negotiable items secure and tracked according to policy. The individual will audit, code, submit, and post expense account settlements.

Purchasing Card Responsibilities:
Accountable for procuring supplies, settling invoices, and reconciling all purchases and payments in the financial management system.

Responsibilities also include receiving, securing, and processing repayments from clients who have received benefits in error; processing child support payments; and managing indigent burial applications while filing claims on estates once settled.


Reporting Duties:
Complete and submit monthly and annual financial reports. Serve as a backup to the Operations unit by assisting in various areas as required. Participation in task teams, completion of necessary training, and policy reviews may be expected. Additional fiscal responsibilities may be assigned. Close collaboration with state auditor's office, state fiduciary office, Social Security office, and state vendors is essential. Proficiency in navigating departmental electronic systems and adherence to departmental policies is required. Knowledge of state and local regulations, negotiable handling, account coding, and complex fiscal processes is essential. Occasional travel to other county offices may be necessary. Exceptional attendance, communication skills, and professionalism are mandatory.

Training Requirements:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent.

Experience Requirements:
Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid bookkeeping, accounting, or related experience.

Substitution Options:

Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from an accredited institution may substitute experience at the rate of three semester hours equating to six months of experience; OR successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for experience based on an established formula.
