Dean of Students

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dean of Students to join our team at Memphis School of Excellence. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to the Principal, implementing the Student Code of Conduct, and creating a safe and orderly school environment.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of 1 year of teaching experience. They will be governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the Tennessee Board of Education.
The Dean of Students will be responsible for:
- Providing guidance and support to students, staff, and parents
- Implementing the Student Code of Conduct and creating a safe and orderly school environment
- Coordinating school field trips and maintaining a calendar and schedules
- Assisting with data input and maintaining office filing systems
- Communicating with parents and key stakeholders
- Counseling students and managing student behavior
- Participating in meetings and professional development activities

Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 1 year of teaching experience
- Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the Tennessee Board of Education

- Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize a wide variety of reference, descriptive, and/or advisory data and information
- Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; the ability to calculate decimals and percentages; the ability to utilize principles of fractions; and the ability to interpret graphs
- Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems, philosophies, laws, regulations, and procedures
- Situational Reasoning: Requires the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving evaluation of information against measurable or verifiable criteria and the goals and priorities of planning and development programs
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Light Work: May require occasional light lifting
- Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required
- Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location
- Moderate travel is required
