Staff Nurse Practitioner for Student Health Services

The University of Tennessee seeks a highly skilled Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner to provide continuous, comprehensive care for patients in the student health center and/or primary care clinic. This role requires a deep understanding of disease management, health promotion, health education, and preventative health services.
- Delivers episodic and chronic care, as well as screening and educational assistance to clinic patients.
- Reviews patients' medical history, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic tests such as laboratory results, EKGs, and imaging studies to inform treatment plans.
- Develops and implements treatment plans based on evidence-based practice guidelines and professional standards of care.
- Identifies signs of mental or emotional illness in patients and refers them for behavioral health evaluation and treatment.
- Prescribes medications based on their efficacy, safety, and cost, as authorized.
- Counsels patients on drug regimens, possible side effects, or interactions with other substances.
- Educates patients on self-management of acute or chronic illnesses.
- Participates in ongoing continuing education and training to stay current with industry developments.
- Provides clinical guidance and support for RNs, LPNs, CMAs, lab personnel, patient services representatives, and patient account specialists.
- Performs other duties as needed to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Requirements:
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Two years of primary care experience.
- Officially accredited to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by AANP or ANCC.
- Current and valid Tennessee license from the State Board of Nursing for Advanced Nursing Practice.
- Meets all state requirements and holds valid Prescriptive Authority, including current DEA certification.

Work Schedule: This position may occasionally require working weekends and evenings.
