Job Summary

The Unit Secretary is an unlicensed person who performs indirect patient care in the department setting. This role is responsible for facilitating communication needs, transcribing physician orders, preparing and completing patient records, and ordering supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Transcribe physician orders and prepare patient records
  • Facilitate communication needs of the department
  • Prepare and complete patient charts for necessary forms
  • Order supplies for the unit
  • Assist nursing staff with indirect patient care
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate within 6 months of hire
  • Basic dysrhythmia training preferred
  • Medical terminology preferred
  • Experience using computers for word processing and database management preferred
