Position Overview:

Rasmussen College is currently looking for an adjunct educator to instruct within the Nursing program. The goal of our Nursing courses is to equip students with the essential knowledge, clinical skills, nursing values, and practical experience necessary for success in their chosen profession. We have openings for adjunct roles in Lecture, Lab, and Clinical environments.

Reporting Structure:

Adjunct Nursing Educators report directly to the Dean of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

Adjunct faculty members are primarily accountable for engaging with students and collaborating with other College staff regarding educational matters. Responsibilities include:

  • Providing consistent verbal and written feedback to students on their performance throughout the course.
  • Being accessible to students via various communication methods for academic support and inquiries.
  • Responding promptly to the Dean and College staff regarding performance, student concerns, or documentation needed for accreditation.
  • Exhibiting professionalism in behavior, communication, and appearance at all times.

Essential Functions:

The primary functions of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching Effectiveness: Employing effective teaching strategies and diverse instructional techniques to foster a dynamic learning environment.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrating mastery in the subject area and contributing to curriculum development and assessment.
  • Student Support: Creating a supportive classroom atmosphere and being available for student outreach to facilitate academic success.

Professional Development:

Faculty members are required to complete a minimum of six (6) Rasmussen Educational Units (REUs) annually, or two (2) REUs per quarter for each quarter they teach, in accordance with the faculty handbook.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse.
  • A Master's Degree in Nursing.
  • An active registered nurse license that has never been encumbered.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
