Project Supervisor

Contract Position

Department: Software and Data Platforms

Compensation: $50-55/hour W-2

We are a skilled team dedicated to supporting a vital location platform database that serves as the definitive source for location-based information. Our platform caters to both enterprise and small-to-medium business (SMB) teams, ensuring optimal utilization of our location data. As our environment evolves following a reorganization, we are in search of a proactive Project Supervisor to lead our location platform projects through this period of change.

Role Overview:

This Project Supervisor will play a key role in managing and directing projects associated with the location platform, with a focus on both enterprise and SMB requirements. You will collaborate closely with a team of 25 software developers, navigating through a transitioning Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process. Your responsibilities will encompass standard project management duties, including requirement gathering, managing project timelines, and facilitating coordination among teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management:
  • Oversee and manage projects related to the effective utilization of the location platform, including maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Gather and document requirements from business teams, translating them into technical specifications for the development team.
  • Create comprehensive project plans, detailing timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Monitor project progress, provide updates to stakeholders, and ensure timely and within-scope project completion.
  • Coordination and Communication:
  • Serve as the primary contact for all location-related projects, facilitating communication between business teams, developers, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct meetings, gather estimates, and manage project dependencies.
  • Deliver regular updates on project status, timelines, and any emerging issues.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Adapt to an evolving SDLC process, contributing to the enhancement of project management practices.
  • Assist in transitioning from SAFe to a more adaptable methodology, including updating project management tools and implementing a Kanban approach.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, Confluence, and Jira.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Java services, and technical platforms/products.
  • Understanding of backend systems and data management.
  • Experience and Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing projects within a technical environment.
  • Experience with platform or product management is advantageous.
  • Ability to convert business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Personal Attributes:
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the capability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Resilient and able to thrive in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
  • Methodologies:
  • Experience with various project management methodologies; familiarity with SAFe is beneficial, but a flexible approach is essential as we transition.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in processes and methodologies.

Additional Information:

  • This role demands a strong personality capable of managing multiple priorities and ensuring accountability for project timelines.
  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, thriving in a challenging environment with a focus on delivering results.
