Position Overview

The Parks Program Services Supervisor plays a crucial role in enhancing visitor experiences at state parks through the development and management of engaging recreational and educational programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of historical park facilities.
  • Lead and mentor seasonal staff and volunteers in historical skills and demonstrations.
  • Organize and execute various living history events throughout the year.
  • Design educational programs tailored for school groups.
  • Conduct research to enrich interpretive programming and park exhibits.
  • Manage and catalog park artifacts.
  • Deliver interpretive programming at associated facilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of 18th Century Kentucky history.
  • Familiarity with historical interpretation techniques.
  • Ability to educate others in historical interpretation.
  • Proficiency in 18th Century pioneer skills.
  • Competence in computer applications.
  • Excellent recordkeeping abilities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Reliability and dependability in work.
Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as recreation, history, or environmental education.

Experience: A minimum of two years in roles such as park naturalist or environmental educator.

Special Requirements: None.

Working Conditions

This position primarily involves outdoor work with significant public interaction.
