THE JOB

The Assistant Pastry Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen in collaboration with our Pastry Chef and Culinary Director. This role includes comprehensive training with the Pastry Chef to develop a solid foundation of product knowledge, essential skills for training team members, and the ability to manage various kitchen situations.

Key Responsibilities

- Promote the culture, values, and mission of The Salty through responsible leadership
- Set a standard for attendance, punctuality, and cleanliness
- Guide the team in training and implementing necessary updates
- Ensure all kitchen teams maintain The Salty's high standards of product quality
- Train new team members in their respective kitchen stations during onboarding
- Communicate effectively with kitchen leaders, including the Pastry Chef
- Foster a cohesive team environment that encourages growth and accountability
- Recognize and celebrate team achievements, both big and small

Key Duties Include:

- Mastery of all kitchen disciplines to support team members as needed
- Understanding daily donut quantity requirements
- Maintaining decoration pace and ensuring timely completion
- Collaborating with front of house management on production adjustments
- Managing the store's delivery schedule to ensure timely donut readiness
- Executing special orders and unique menu items
- Assisting the Pastry Chef in keeping the team focused on key tasks
- Upholding The Salty's standards for quality and aesthetics
- Conducting daily donut counts and reporting inconsistencies
- Supporting inventory management and administrative tasks as requested
- Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Performing inventory as directed by the Pastry Chef

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours)
- Capability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 30 pounds
- Willingness to work weekends and holidays
- Proficiency in reading and communicating in English

Other related responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
