Key Responsibilities

As a Business Development Support Specialist (BDSS), you will play a crucial role in our growth initiatives within the Central Region, focusing on our Chicago teams. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in business development activities across various transportation infrastructure sectors, including Federal, Government, Freight, Transit, and Aviation.
  • Supporting Client Service Teams and Business Development efforts by enhancing our social media presence and managing the social media calendar.
  • Contributing to client and project pursuit activities, which involve developing and producing qualifications, proposals, and presentations.
  • Participating in training opportunities to gain insights into the transportation market and the A/E/C industry.

The ideal candidate will exhibit a proactive attitude, strong organizational capabilities, and excellent interpersonal skills, enabling them to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.

Proposal Development Support

Your role will also involve:

  • Assisting with various components of proposal development, including resumes, project sheets, data collection, coordination, printing, assembling, and electronic submissions.
  • Conducting research, writing, editing, formatting, and quality checking of text and graphics for proposals, presentations, or qualifications packages.
  • Archiving proposal content and ensuring proper documentation in internal databases as part of the proposal closeout process.
  • Maintaining and updating opportunities, staff resumes, and project descriptions using our Marketing Information System.
  • Creating marketing materials such as brochures, cut sheets, and presentations for client meetings and conferences.
  • Documenting meeting notes and action items to support pursuit capture planning and Client Service Teams.
  • Conducting research to aid in capture planning and Client Service Team activities.
  • Assisting with conference planning and logistics.
  • Managing the social media calendar and contributing to social media strategy.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, English, communications, or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in graphic design and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite will be advantageous.
