POSITION SUMMARY


The Chief Operations Officer is accountable for the operational strategy, driving growth initiatives, and overseeing program development and governance of centers within their market.

This role encompasses the supervision of administrative and clinical operations, as well as performance enhancement initiatives across their portfolio of centers.

Working closely with the Regional Vice Presidents, the Chief Operations Officer holds overall responsibility for all center activities aimed at achieving market performance objectives and fostering continuous improvement.

This position involves developing and nurturing strong partnerships with healthcare system and physician leadership, including Board Members, while actively supporting the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Defines, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of the organization's operations division.


Collaborates with executive leadership to establish and achieve company objectives while providing expertise and guidance on operational projects and systems.

Works in conjunction with other divisions and support center departments to fulfill the organization's goals and objectives.


Identifies, recommends, and executes new processes, technologies, and systems to enhance and streamline organizational operations and resource utilization.


Ensures that departmental decisions and project plans regarding staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, hardware acquisitions, and facilities align with the organization's business plan and vision, including its financial targets.

Scales an infrastructure that is repeatable, reliable, and reportable.

Establishes and maintains effective communication and positive relationships with healthcare system and physician leadership. Develops initiatives to promote physician engagement and satisfaction while enhancing employee morale and patient loyalty. Guides the implementation of these initiatives throughout their market.


In collaboration with the Atlas Senior Leadership, partners with functional department leadership to operationalize the acquisition of new facilities and the expansion of service sites, including new construction opportunities, lease agreements, and space management.

Design and implementation of such initiatives are aimed at fostering growth, improving access to care, and generating revenue opportunities for the organization.

Oversees the planning and execution of strategic initiatives across the market to align with the organization's goals and vision.

Independently leads teams of peers and associates to guide the execution of operational, IT, marketing, patient experience, patient access, revenue cycle, and process improvement projects across all Centers in the market.

Leads the formulation and execution of the annual operating plan for the ASCs.

Monitors and ensures the achievement of annual operating plans across all Centers.

Ensures comprehensive compliance with legal, regulatory, and quality standards.

Develops and implements a system to guarantee that established policies, goals, and objectives are met and comply with practice, facility, and system policies, as well as applicable local, state, and federal regulations.


The scope of this role typically encompasses multiple regions, including multi-disciplinary facilities, matrixed reporting structures, and a substantial number of providers.

Stakeholders of this position include both internal and external parties, such as leadership staff, employees, medical staff, regulatory agencies, and the community.

This position fosters a high level of collaboration within a highly matrixed team environment to coordinate activities, review work, exchange information, and resolve issues.

Partners with the Atlas Executive Leadership Team to oversee the financial and operational performance of its clinical practices and training activities.


Responsible for driving market revenue growth and collaborates closely with various Atlas departments, including business development, managed care, and clinical, to support growth initiatives and meet the market's business needs.

Provides strategic guidance for new contracts, negotiating and approving agreements as necessary.

Develops, executes, and drives innovative marketing and development strategies to support growth and profitability.


Accountable for devising and implementing solutions to navigate challenges associated with a competitive, complex, and highly regulated market, introducing successful business models tailored to their specific market.

Performs all functions in accordance with established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.

Delivers an exceptional service experience by consistently demonstrating our core and leadership behaviors every day.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent level of education and experience.


Minimum of 8 – 10 years of progressive career history with a solid foundation in general management principles and strong financial acumen within the healthcare sector.

Minimum 3 years in a Senior Leadership role.

Experience with strategic planning and business development across various markets.

Experience in growing and scaling an innovative service-oriented business model.

Operational and strategic experience.

Strong knowledge of fiscal management and responsibility, business finance, capital funding, contracts, partnerships, and corporate governance.

Sound understanding of risk management.

Experience with leadership skills, with a strong focus on mentoring and motivating a professional workforce.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree preferred. Previous experience in Medical Practices is advantageous.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
