ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of prior experience in electronic troubleshooting or relevant training

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with automated testing systems is advantageous (e.g., Audio Precision test, Listen Soundcheck, LabView, Acoustic Testing).
  • Hands-on experience in failure analysis within electronics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles is a plus.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Conduct inspections, measurements, and tests on Gentex products in alignment with technical drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and inspection/test plans.

Manage customer return materials through the Gentex internal RMA process, ensuring timely resolution from receipt to final disposition while striving to meet cycle time metrics.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure all products conform to the specifications outlined in product drawings, purchase orders, and inspection plans.
  • Execute visual and mechanical inspections of components according to the inspection plan to identify missing hardware, soldering defects, assembly errors, alignment issues, and cosmetic flaws, while maintaining accurate records.
  • Capable of creating and processing AS9102 First Article Inspection reports.
  • Submit non-conforming products to the Material Review Board for evaluation.
  • Perform necessary transactions to manage product flow as required.
  • Troubleshoot product returns to verify reported customer issues.
  • Engage in failure analysis investigations for product returns and document findings in the RMA access database.
  • Address testing rejects and/or equipment issues as necessary.
  • Construct test fixtures to support troubleshooting and testing activities.
  • Provide training to Inspector Level 1 personnel.
  • Support other departments and business functions as needed.
  • Flexibility in scheduling may be required to meet critical deadlines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in basic arithmetic operations across various units of measure.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
  • Competence in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, as well as understanding simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail is essential.
  • Proficient in using microscopes, multi-meters, calipers, Keyence measuring systems, and other mechanical measuring tools as required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook) is necessary; ability to work in a dual-screen electronic environment is a must.
  • IPC 610 and IPC 620 certifications are required.
  • Understanding of ANSI Z1.4 sampling tables is beneficial.
  • Experience in ISO9100 and/or AS9100 certified facilities is advantageous.
  • Ability to create AS9102 First Article Inspections as required.
  • Previous knowledge of TipQA software is preferred.
  • Understanding of electronics design and manufacturing is a plus.
  • Team-oriented with the capability to collaborate in cross-functional teams.
