Job Overview:
Delivers comprehensive nursing care and services to patients and their families. Provides guidance to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and nursing support staff. Assigns nursing responsibilities in accordance with legal and regulatory standards as well as organizational protocols. Employs sound judgment in executing prescribed medical directives from healthcare practitioners. Acts as the primary nurse and total patient caregiver. Functions as a resource nurse and serves as a mentor, taking on leadership responsibilities as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Practices professional nursing and delegates nursing duties to support personnel while offering guidance to LPNs as necessary.
Utilizes the nursing process to provide effective care.
Conducts any tasks that necessitate nursing expertise, judgment, and skills.
Administers medications as prescribed.
Educates LPNs and nursing support staff on specialized nursing tasks.
Confirms staff competency for performing specialized nursing duties as appropriate.
Holds responsibility and accountability for the quality of nursing care provided and the adequacy of care when delegating tasks to nursing support personnel.
Acts as the primary nurse and total patient caregiver.Serves as a resource nurse and fulfills mentoring roles.
Assumes leadership responsibilities as assigned.
Incorporates the organizational vision, model, and values throughout nursing practice.
Performs additional duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned within the scope of practice.
May be assigned to different departments as needed to meet patient care demands.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience

Education
Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Basic Life Support or CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification.
Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required upon hire.
Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in adaptability, change management, decision-making, attention to detail, customer service, influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, prioritization, problem-solving, quality management, results orientation, systems thinking, teamwork, time management, and written communication skills.
One (1) year of experience in a specialty area or completion of a formal course in a specialty area within a designated timeframe after hiring into the specialty.
Specialty Areas include:
Operating Room, Emergency Department, Telemetry, Intensive Care Units, Labor & Delivery, Pediatrics, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Cardiology, Ambulatory Treatment, Diagnostic Imaging, and Oncology.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electronic medical records.
One (1) year of experience or completion of a formal course in a specialty area.
Coursework in basic EKG.
