Clinical Nurse Specialist

Job Summary:
As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Behavioral Health at Kaiser Permanente, you will provide a variety of ambulatory behavioral health services to individuals, families, groups, and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs. Your expertise will include evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, case management, and psychotherapeutic intervention.
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in mental health, managing patients on psychiatric medications and providing direct clinical services to children and/or adults. A Master's degree in Nursing with a specialty in community mental health, behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, or a related field is required. Additionally, you must hold a Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist Certification or a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification, as well as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License with Prescriptive Authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage care for patients with behavioral health conditions, including assessment, evaluation, education, and development of individualized plans of care.
- Review and establish diagnoses, order and monitor diagnostic tests, and perform procedures as within the scope of practice.
- Provide psychotherapy and counseling for individuals, families, groups, and/or Intensive Outpatient Programs, utilizing a wide range of intervention modalities.
- Collaborate with physicians, primary care staff, and other interdisciplinary clinical team members involved in the assessment and care of patients.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of assessment using the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) and International Statistical Classification of Disease and Related Health Problems (ICD).
- Experience working in an integrated behavioral health model within a primary care setting.
- Taxonomy code required at time of hire.
