Nuclear Engineering Leadership Role

This position is for a Supervisory Nuclear Engineer at the United States Fleet Forces Command. The successful candidate will serve as a SUPERVISORY NUCLEAR ENGINEER in the Nuclear Refueling Engineering Division Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department (Code 2300) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative and technical supervision over the staff assigned to the branch
  • Accomplishment of engineering and scientific work
  • Development, review, and approval of procedures in support of reactor servicing training and operations
  • Maintenance of close liaison with reactor servicing personnel while resolving reactor servicing and component technical problems
  • Ensuring technical subordinates meet their organizational goals and objectives in a mentoring capacity
  • Effective communication both orally and in writing to inform, advise, guide or persuade various personnel

Requirements

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized Experience

  • Providing technical supervision and coordination of all activities integral to nuclear facilities and nuclear engineering
  • Applying advanced theories, concepts, principles and practices of nuclear engineering associated with diverse aspects of nuclear propulsion plants
  • Reviewing work submitted by subordinates for accuracy and completion
  • Analyzing reactor servicing needs to determine necessary changes for nuclear facilities or operational procedures
  • Planning work sequences, daily schedules, or tests to execute assigned duties
  • Demonstrating knowledge of emergency preparedness and participation in emergency response for exercises or actual events
