Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in educational leadership, supervision, or a related discipline.
  • Valid and active PA Certification as an Elementary Principal.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in public education, encompassing both secondary and elementary instruction.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology and software applications commonly employed in school administration.
  • Proven track record in improving low-performing schools and/or assisting underperforming students, with preference for experience in urban educational settings.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the standards-based curriculum mandated in Pennsylvania.
  • Experience in Urban Administration is preferred.
  • Must possess a satisfactory work history and clearances as per Acts 34, 114, and 151.
  • To excel in this role, the individual must competently fulfill each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Additional qualifications may be determined appropriate by the board or superintendent.
Summary:
Principals are responsible for establishing a clear vision for student learning, ensuring a safe and orderly educational environment, and fostering strong relationships with diverse stakeholders, including families and community members.

Key Responsibilities:

Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize key metrics to inform updates and enhancements that support teacher quality and share relevant data with stakeholders.
  • Develop clear methods for measuring student growth and track individual progress to ensure college readiness.
  • Lead the implementation of a comprehensive instructional improvement framework.
  • Regularly analyze student performance data to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for at-risk students and create new action plans as necessary.
People Management: Dedicate time to identify and nurture top talent, providing clarity on roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations while fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Oversee the supervision, leadership, and evaluation of professional staff as designated by the Superintendent.
Effective Influencer: Inspire others to work towards shared goals that meet the needs of urban school students, emphasizing the critical role of human capital in educational success.
  • Align actions with the school's mission and vision as outlined in the school improvement plan, using data to assess progress.
  • Collaborate with Central Administration to ensure alignment between district and school programs for the benefit of the school community.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Skills: Actively partner with others to achieve common objectives, building rapport and cooperative relationships.
  • Establish connections with colleges, community organizations, and other schools to coordinate educational services.
  • Supervise extracurricular activities and evaluate their effectiveness through regular attendance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with employee associations and relevant stakeholders, prioritizing team and organizational goals.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Focus on meeting the needs of students and families, taking immediate action to address concerns and continuously seeking feedback for improvement.
Creating and Sustaining a Culture of High Expectations: Foster a restorative school culture that promotes high aspirations and achievement for every student, requiring staff and students to embody the school's values and positive behaviors.
  • Oversee discipline, attendance, class schedules, cumulative records, and grade reporting to ensure compliance with district policies.
  • Administer educational programs for students with special needs.
  • Analyze and interpret professional literature, best practices, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
