Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in special education or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
  2. Possession of a valid and current Pennsylvania special education certification.
  3. Must have a clear criminal background and child abuse clearances (Acts 34, 151, and FBI).
  4. Capability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodations. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
  5. Ability to fulfill additional or alternative qualifications and essential duties as determined appropriate and acceptable by the board or superintendents.
Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Works collaboratively with other staff members in the educational process and supports the efficient operation of the institution.
  2. Partners with administration, staff, and parents to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and fulfill other special education administrative requirements.
  3. Shows enthusiasm and engages in the overall school program.
  4. Demonstrates reliability and punctuality in assigned responsibilities, attendance at meetings, and in the care of equipment and facilities.
  5. Exhibits positive personal attributes, such as neatness, integrity, character, good citizenship, respect for others, honesty, and accountability as a role model for students.
  6. Adheres to the Pennsylvania School Code and the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  7. Enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.
  8. Maintains open communication with administrators, parents, students, staff members, and the community.
  9. Participates in curriculum review and redesign as required by department, subject area, or grade level.
  10. Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance competencies toward achieving job goals.
  11. Incorporates the philosophy, objectives, and expectations of the Teacher Expectations, Evaluation, and Development plan into professional goal attainment.
  12. Recognizes the fundamental structural framework for developing instructional programs and strives to achieve the set objectives.
  13. Develops, maintains, and completes all necessary written records and reports within established timelines.
  14. Utilizes a variety of instructional methods to achieve lesson objectives and provides students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom.
  15. Assesses and evaluates student abilities and progress to create effective instructional strategies, providing timely feedback regarding their progress.
  16. Identifies and employs appropriate technological enhancements relevant to the curriculum being taught.
  17. Demonstrates understanding and concern for each student in addressing their educational needs.
