Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst role operates under general oversight, focusing on the facilitation of treasury functions alongside risk and tax management, while collaborating with external entities as necessary.


Work Environment:
Hybrid setting, based in Southside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee and evaluate the organization’s daily cash flow to meet financial obligations, while coordinating and optimizing short-term financing or investments, and assisting in daily cash management tasks.

2. Lead and support various Treasury initiatives and projects.

3. Ensure adherence to month-end deadlines for reconciling all cash-related accounts, executing month-end procedures, and managing all relevant journal entries.

4. Facilitate the execution of letters of credit, performance and bid bonds, insurance certificates, and similar financial instruments.

5. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports detailing the cash position.

6. Conduct cash management and risk management activities to ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate policies, and regulations, including those mandated by the National Automated Clearing House Association.

7. Analyze and monitor bank fees, including expenses related to credit cards and cash management.

8. Foster positive relationships with banking institutions.

9. Oversee the tax program, maintaining a comprehensive calendar of filing deadlines and schedules, coordinating with external parties as necessary, and ensuring accurate and timely submissions for various tax types across different jurisdictions.

10. Support and manage the insurance program as part of the company's risk management strategy, coordinating with third-party brokers for annual billing, renewals, and additional support.

11. Collaborate with accounting, payroll, tax, financial planning, internal and external auditors, and other departments concerning treasury transactions, insurance programs, and tax obligations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

- A minimum of three years' experience in a financial or accounting role, preferably within the utility or telecommunications sector or public accounting.

- Professional certification (CPA, CMA, CGMA) is advantageous.

- Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles.

- Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with all levels of management and staff, as well as external clients.

- Ability to work autonomously while keeping key stakeholders informed and engaged.

- Proficient in managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.

- Highly regarded for integrity, adaptability, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with NetSuite is preferred.

- A positive attitude and strong values aligned with the core principles of Duquesne Light.

Scope of Work

The primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs, and reporting. The role typically involves managing one's own time and workflow, using established guidelines to analyze situations and resolve issues. The incumbent is expected to build upon their knowledge base while acting independently most of the time, seeking guidance from experts and managers as needed.

Regularly draws on past experiences to address vague problems and issues, accountable for the reasoning and decision-making processes at a direct level.

Work Environment

This position follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum of two days in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may vary based on departmental needs.

Data Governance

Utilize data to inform business decisions as appropriate for the role, support data stewardship initiatives, and collaborate with IT on data requirements.
