Job Overview

The role of the Financial Crimes Investigator is crucial in safeguarding the integrity of financial transactions. This position involves the meticulous monitoring and evaluation of both financial and non-financial activities to detect fraudulent behavior and effectively manage associated risks.

Key Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Fraud Officer, the Financial Crimes Investigator will:

  • Conduct thorough investigations: Execute detailed inquiries into fraud incidents and member claims by gathering pertinent evidence, researching transaction histories, and interviewing involved parties.
  • Monitor accounts: Review consumer and business accounts for any unusual or suspicious activities, utilizing advanced fraud detection tools and systems.
  • Analyze transaction data: Employ various reporting mechanisms to scrutinize member transaction patterns across all banking channels, aiming to prevent fraudulent activities.
  • Respond to inquiries: Serve as the primary contact for internal and external queries related to potential fraudulent incidents, providing assistance and sharing best practices.
  • Maintain documentation: Ensure all case documentation adheres to established standards, including the preparation and submission of regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with partners: Work closely with internal teams to offer guidance on fraud incidents and optimize strategies for loss prevention and recovery.
  • Stay informed: Keep abreast of current laws, regulations, and industry trends related to fraud prevention and security.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a financial institution or investigative environment.
  • Knowledge of credit union operations and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and auditing software.
  • Preferred certifications such as CFE or CFCA.
