Position Overview:
As a Process Improvement Engineer at our Dayton facility, you will deliver engineering solutions for specialized projects of varying complexities aimed at enhancing systems, materials, or manufacturing methodologies. Collaborating with engineering and technical teams, you will contribute to Technology or Production Engineering initiatives that bolster our manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and propose technical strategies for assigned projects.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses by evaluating tooling and materials for equipment selection and procurement.
  • Design ergonomic features for new or modified workstations and job roles.
  • Provide industrial engineering support to project teams with minimal supervision.
  • Create detailed layouts of limited facilities based on sound industrial engineering and ergonomic principles.
  • Revise job evaluations as necessary due to changes in job content or other factors.
  • Design and execute work measurement projects to meet specified objectives.
  • Develop Normal Cost data (e.g., routings) including expense rates, staffing, usage, and scrap from available resources.
  • Conduct Make vs. Buy analyses utilizing available quotes, Normal Costs, and freight expenses.
  • Prepare CAR models for straightforward projects involving a single site.
  • Perform time studies, MTM/MOST analyses, work sampling, or other evaluations.
  • Stay updated on advancements in technology and engineering specialties, recommending the adoption of new innovations when applicable.
  • Generate and assess new engineering or technical information that contributes to the technical foundation of assigned projects.
  • Offer basic engineering guidance on existing processes or procedures.
  • Compile reports and recommendations for supervisors, including written documentation and oral presentations on engineering project progress.
  • Maintain relevant records and files.
  • Prepare Technology Transfer documentation.
  • Assist technicians and skilled trades, collaborating with other engineers to achieve team and departmental objectives.
  • Engage in safety programs, providing Equipment Operating Instructions and training to team leaders/supervisors, ensuring compliance with OSHA and EBM standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field (including engineering technology) or significant relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience in production capacity reporting.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Project.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, RCA, OEE, and KPIs relevant to manufacturing plants.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments with increasing responsibility.
  • Cross-functional team leadership skills to achieve objectives.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing Operators and Maintenance personnel, as well as managing consultants and contractors.
  • Financial and Project Management expertise.
  • Understanding of Safe Work Practices, including knowledge of NEC, OSHA, LOTO, Guarding, and Hot Work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Reliability Practices/Tools such as PdM, PPM, RCM.
  • Skills in Planning, Execution, Monitoring, and Reporting of PM, CM, and turnaround activities.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Experience with Safe Work Practices.
