Job Title: Development Officer

About the Role:

The Development Officer will play a critical role in securing financial resources for Caring Network, a ministry dedicated to honoring and glorifying Jesus Christ. This position will focus on identifying and engaging new donors, building relationships, and securing major gifts to support the expansion of the ministry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a portfolio of mid and major donors, building lasting and meaningful relationships to increase their level of giving.
  • Invite new donors and engage current donors to secure major gifts, including 4 to 5-figure gifts and 5 to 6-figure gifts.
  • Develop short and long-range plans to engage donors through personalized communications, insider events, and one-on-one meetings.
  • Implement disciplined methods for contacting, scheduling, visiting, and following up with donors to consistently grow a base of support.
  • Implement stewardship strategies to express appreciation for contributions, including personalized acknowledgements and impact reporting.
  • Identify prospects and cultivate relationships with individuals, churches, and organizations in Cook and DuPage counties to grow the donor base.
  • Present Caring Network to small and large groups in Cook and DuPage counties.
  • Provide leadership for events at our Cook County clinics, including identifying, recruiting, and training volunteers.
  • Work together with the Development Team to coordinate fundraising activities.
  • Integrate planned giving to secure long-term sustainable giving.
  • Document all contacts with donors in the CRM database.
  • Collaborate on donor events, including hosting a table at dinner events.
  • Support upper management by sharing ideas for income generation.
  • Participate in bi-monthly Development Team Meetings and Monthly Staff Meetings.
  • Report regularly to the VP Development on progress and goals met.
  • Occasionally represent the ministry at local churches and organizations, making presentations.
  • Stay up-to-date on current trends in fundraising and pro-life issues.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a participant in a local church.
  • A strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and enthusiasm for the mission and strategy of Caring Network.
  • Agreement with and willingness to uphold Caring Network's Statements of Faith and Principle and Core Values.
  • 2-5 years of successful face-to-face major gift solicitations.
  • A proven record of relationship building, customer service skills, and successful gift solicitations.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree or CFRE a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire people.
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to focus on and achieve goals.
  • Able to empathize and comfortable with participating in prayer with co-workers and ministry partners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • Exhibit honesty, dependability, initiative, integrity, productivity, maturity, flexibility, professionalism, independence, and teamwork.
