Chief of Staff Job OverviewReporting directly to the CEO, the Chief of Staff will play a crucial role in supporting the entire senior leadership team. This position requires a unique blend of operational excellence, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
Key Responsibilities- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, providing high-level support on critical business decisions and initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with all members of the senior leadership team to align operations across departments with overall business objectives.
- Develop and implement cross-functional projects to drive company growth and efficiency.
- Manage special projects as assigned by the CEO and other senior leaders.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning across all departments.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance organizational efficiency.
- Coordinate with department heads to streamline operations and resolve cross-functional challenges.
- Manage key vendor relationships and contracts.
- Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures.
- Implement and oversee quality control systems.
- Lead and coordinate major company initiatives and projects.
- Develop project timelines, allocate resources, and monitor progress.
- Identify potential roadblocks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) across all departments.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on operational performance for the executive team and board.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Implement data-driven decision-making processes across the organization.
- Work with HR to develop and implement strategies for talent acquisition and retention.
- Assist in creating and maintaining a positive company culture.
- Facilitate cross-departmental communication and collaboration.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in operations management or a similar role.
- Experience in a high-growth tech startup environment.
- Strong understanding of the freight and logistics industry preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and driving results.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
- Proficiency in project management tools and data analysis software.
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
- Adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity.
- Discreet and trustworthy, capable of handling confidential information.
The expected on-target compensation for this role is between $150,000-$200,000 for work performed in the United States. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include experience level, transferable skills, education, location, business needs, training, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future.
