Press Support Technician

POSITION SUMMARY
The Press Support Technician plays a crucial role in assisting press operators by ensuring that all machinery is adequately supplied with necessary raw materials. This position involves setting up line equipment, labeling containers, packaging products, and conducting quality control checks. The technician will also learn to operate the presses to provide coverage during breaks.

Support Responsibilities
1. Review work orders to identify required materials, including boxes, cores, skids, stock, and quantities needed for each machine.
2. Utilize hand and powered lift trucks to ensure machines are stocked appropriately for upcoming jobs. All raw materials and stock should be organized in designated areas.
3. Hang paper stock rolls and operate necessary equipment to change stock rolls when they are empty or when setting up for new jobs.
4. Remove unused materials from machines after job completion and return them to their appropriate locations in the warehouse.
5. Maintain cleanliness in the press area by emptying paper bins and garbage cans.
Operational Duties
1. Operate the press accurately and efficiently during operator breaks, ensuring that production continues without interruption.
2. Scan finished products for entry into the finished goods system.
3. Transfer completed products from work areas to the warehouse or shipping department.
4. Pack and label cartons, boxes, or bins of finished products, and assist in shipping and receiving as needed.
5. Acquire knowledge of basic printing press functions to eventually relieve operators during breaks, helping to achieve daily production targets.
Other Duties

Other Skills: Mechanical aptitude is essential.
