NV5, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer (PE) to fill the role of Project Manager. This position is based in our office and focuses on delivering exceptional consulting engineering services, particularly in the fields of geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee independent project management for geotechnical assignments, including the direction and execution of field explorations, laboratory services, and complex engineering analyses, culminating in comprehensive report preparation.
  • Ensure the timely preparation, review, and delivery of proposals and reports to fulfill client commitments.
  • Provide expert consultation during construction phases, including oversight and execution of construction observations and inspections.
  • Develop detailed scopes for geotechnical investigations and prepare corresponding proposals.
  • Comprehend client objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Manage and conduct geotechnical field investigations, coordinating with subcontractors as necessary.
  • Perform environmental sampling as required.
  • Prepare work plans, analyze data and test results, and generate geotechnical engineering reports, potentially overseeing additional project components.
  • Conduct geotechnical studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations tailored to specific projects.
  • Coordinate laboratory test data for geotechnical and construction materials.
  • Utilize standard engineering techniques and procedures, applying professional judgment to modify or implement complex features or solutions.
  • Act as a technician for construction materials testing, including nuclear gauge testing, if necessary.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships while identifying new project opportunities.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring technical excellence, budget adherence, and client satisfaction regarding delivery timelines.
  • May require travel to collaborate with other office locations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field with a geotechnical emphasis is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Possession of an Oregon and/or Washington PE license, or the ability to obtain registration in Oregon and/or Washington within three months of hire.
  • Demonstrated technical capabilities and familiarity with basic geotechnical software (e.g., LPILE, FB-DEEP, SPW911, SETTL3D, SLOPE/W). Skills in geotechnical numerical modeling are a significant advantage.
  • Strong technical writing abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team, employing creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record are required.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and client management skills.
