Key Responsibilities
  • Lead independent project management for geotechnical assignments, overseeing field exploration, laboratory services, and complex engineering analyses, along with report generation.
  • Prepare, review, and ensure the timely submission of proposals and reports to fulfill client expectations.
  • Provide expert consultation during construction phases, conducting observations and inspections.
  • Design scopes for geotechnical investigations and draft proposals accordingly.
  • Comprehend client goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Manage and execute geotechnical field investigations, coordinating with subcontractors as needed.
  • Conduct environmental sampling when necessary.
  • Develop work plans, analyze data and test results, and produce comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports, potentially overseeing other project elements.
  • Perform geotechnical studies, evaluations, modeling, assessments, and investigations tailored to specific projects.
  • Coordinate laboratory test data for geotechnical and construction materials.
  • Utilize standard engineering techniques and procedures, applying professional judgment to modify or implement complex features or solutions.
  • Act as a technician for construction materials testing, including nuclear gauge testing, if required.
  • Foster and maintain client relationships while identifying new project opportunities.
  • Oversee projects from initiation to completion, ensuring technical excellence, budget adherence, and timely delivery.
  • May require travel to collaborate with other NV5 offices.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field with a geotechnical focus is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Possession of an Oregon and/or Washington PE license (or the ability to obtain registration in Oregon and/or Washington within 3 months of hire).
  • Proven technical skills and familiarity with basic geotechnical software (LPILE, FB-DEEP, SPW911, SETTL3D, SLOPE/W, etc.). Geotechnical numerical modeling expertise is a significant advantage.
  • Exceptional technical writing abilities.
  • Capacity to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, think innovatively, and solve problems effectively.
  • A valid driver's license and an insurable driving record are required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and client management skills.
