Patient Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our Adult Psychiatry team at Yale-New Haven Health. As a key member of our care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our patients and their families.
Responsibilities- Assist with patient care activities, including vital sign collection and reporting, under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Perform technical duties and selected treatments, procedures, and activities that contribute to safe and efficient delivery of patient care.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to address patient and family needs, taking into account cultural and individual diversity.
- Effectively communicate and interact with patients, families, and staff, providing exceptional customer service.
- Participate in receiving patient bedside report and rotating to meet patient care needs.
- Complete non-therapeutic functions under the direction of a licensed practitioner, including delivering medication from the pneumatic tube system.
- High school diploma or GED, and CNA or other educational equivalent.
- CT CNA certification, EMT, or student nurse from an accredited program.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training must be obtained prior to employment or within one month of hire.
The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. They are also required to stand and walk, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Additional InformationPrior psychiatric experience is preferred.
