Job Title: Wound Care Specialist

ChristianaCare is seeking a highly skilled Wound Care Specialist to join our team. As a Registered Nurse with expertise in wound management, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and promoting healing.

Job Summary:

The Wound Care Specialist will serve as a clinical resource and consultant for the acute and rehabilitative care of patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. This role offers an opportunity for an expert RN to demonstrate their skill in an autonomous work environment where support is available and offered whenever requested.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with wounds, fistulas, ostomies, and/or incontinence issues with a focus on pressure injury prevention and management/treatment.
  • Facilitates the learning process for patients/families with wounds, ostomies, and/or incontinence by influencing changes in behavior, knowledge, attitudes, and/or acquisition of psychomotor skills.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to deliver care appropriate to infant, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Provides informative programs to staff for the purpose of developing skills and knowledge related to patients/families with wounds, ostomies, fistulas, and/or incontinence, with a focus on pressure injury prevention and management/treatment.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN required and MSN preferred.
  • 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience, leadership is preferred.
  • WOCN certification is preferred; or completion of certification required within 2 years of starting.
