As a member of SMRT's Mechanical Engineering team, you will engage in the integrated design process alongside experts in architecture, structural, electrical, site, and interior design. Your contributions will directly influence projects related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, process, and commissioning, significantly impacting carbon reduction, resilience, and user wellness. Beyond design responsibilities, you will also participate in exciting initiatives and business development, collaborating with top professionals to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project engineers to develop schematic-level information and document project work in compliance with relevant codes and industry standards.
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of contract document production.
  • Conduct modeling and calculations as required.
  • Research and evaluate specifications and materials.
  • Review contractor submittals and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Conduct site visits for assessments of existing conditions, construction progress, and project closeout.
  • Coordinate and communicate project workloads with discipline leaders and other mechanical team members.
  • Work collaboratively with other in-house disciplines as necessary.
  • Operate under the supervision of the Engineer of Record and discipline leaders.
  • May serve as a job captain based on experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Familiarity with national, state, and local codes related to mechanical systems.
  • Ability to visualize building construction and its components in three dimensions, facilitating coordination with other disciplines.
  • Understanding of materials, systems, and commercial building construction.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines across various projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with HVAC software such as Trane Trace.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications:
