Braselton Surgery Center is a cutting-edge ambulatory surgery facility providing innovative surgical solutions to patients in our community. Our skilled surgeons specialize in various fields and offer same-day procedures, allowing patients to return home for a quicker recovery.
The center offers services in the following specialties: Orthopedics, General Surgery, Urology, Podiatry, and Gastroenterology.
Job Summary
The Dual, OR Specialty Nurse acts as a Coordinator and serves as the clinical authority for the OR service line. This role ensures prompt, safe, and effective care for surgical patients in collaboration with the surgical team, maintaining clear communication with staff, surgeons, anesthesia providers, ancillary departments, and leadership. The nurse anticipates the needs of individual patients and surgeons while providing daily oversight of staff assigned to specialty procedure rooms. The Dual, OR Specialty Nurse regularly assesses and implements systems to enhance service line quality and serves as a liaison among physicians, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams. This role also involves triaging patients based on acuity in partnership with surgical and anesthesia colleagues, making staffing decisions based on licensure, competency, availability, and patient acuity. Timely communication of relevant information is essential to improve patient care. The nurse is an active member of PNGC, providing feedback on issues discussed in meetings and participating in councils as appropriate. The nurse contributes to Unit Council initiatives aimed at enhancing nursing-sensitive indicators, patient experience data, and quality metrics, while fostering a positive work culture that reflects professional nursing practice.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: Must be licensed to practice as a RN in Georgia. National certification in a clinical specialty is required within two (2) years of hire (CNOR preferred).
- Educational Requirements: Associate's Degree.
- Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of experience in the Operating Room, with the ability to precept and circulate.
- Other: Membership in a professional organization is required within three months of assuming the role.
- Preferred Licensure or other certifications:
- Preferred Educational Requirements: A degree in Nursing (BSN or MSN). A BSN is strongly encouraged within five (5) years.

- Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiology, staff, and ancillary departments
- Required competencies are reviewed annually and documented accordingly.
- Promotes quality and professional nursing care by holding staff accountable and assessing performance. Assists the Nurse Manager in evaluating staff performance and actively seeks mentoring opportunities.
- Ensures the availability of equipment, supplies, and resources for optimal patient care. Coordinates the availability of specialty items for scheduled cases and verifies that all necessary supplies are prepared prior to procedures.
- Promotes fiscal responsibility by identifying future capital equipment needs and cost-saving initiatives. Collaborates with the OR Nurse Manager and staff to identify budgetary needs to support clinical demands.
- Develops relationships by participating in Perioperative Services committees and communicating challenges while initiating improvements. Acts as a liaison among physicians, anesthesiology, vendors, staff, and leadership.
- Facilitates the development of personnel competencies within the service line by identifying ongoing training needs and conducting performance-oriented training programs for staff.
- Ensures regulatory compliance by collaborating with various departments to maintain prescribed levels of sterile and nonsterile supplies and equipment. Investigates complaints and non-compliance issues, initiating follow-up actions as necessary.
- Provides quality service by demonstrating competence in circulating all major procedures within surgical services.
- Assists in developing staff assignments based on patient acuity and staff competency levels, collaborating with the OR Nurse Manager to ensure optimal staffing for procedures.
- Acts as a professional and clinical resource, maintaining confidentiality and role modeling professional behavior in communications and demeanor.
