POSITION: LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER (AEROSPACE SYSTEMS)

As a pivotal member of the aerospace software team, you will be tasked with the design, development, and testing of software utilized in the control of SpaceX's flight systems. Your collaboration with fellow software and hardware engineers will be essential in identifying mission requirements and crafting highly dependable software that transforms these missions into tangible outcomes. You will oversee the entire lifecycle of the software you develop, encompassing development, testing, and operational deployment during missions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineer robust autonomous software systems
  • Design and implement software for fault detection and mitigation
  • Create prototypes to validate key design concepts and assess technical limitations
  • Manage all facets of software development, including design, testing, and mission integration
  • Provide strong technical guidance and emphasize continuous improvement

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field with 4+ years of software development experience OR 6+ years of software development experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in C++ programming

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Exceptional software design and development capabilities
  • Experience in creating fault-tolerant software solutions
  • Comprehensive understanding of computer architecture and networking
  • Knowledge of physics, mathematics, and electronics
  • Strong skills in debugging, performance enhancement, and unit testing
  • Innovative problem-solving abilities
  • Capability to thrive in a dynamic environment with evolving needs and requirements
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and effective communication

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary
