Job Title: Compliance Investigator

George Mason University is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Investigator to join our team. As a Compliance Investigator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the university's compliance with federal and state laws, including Title IX, VAWA, Title VII, and other related regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct neutral investigations into allegations of sexual harassment, misconduct, and discrimination, ensuring a thorough and accurate analysis of the facts.
  • Provide initial outreach and support to Title IX reports, implementing supportive measures as needed.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure a consistent and appropriate response to reported incidents.
  • Develop and present training programs to faculty, staff, and students on prohibited sexual harassment and discrimination issues.
  • Engage with other ODEI staff in investigation and resolution of all forms of discrimination, carrying out special projects and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated professional experience in Title IX, including assessment and outreach, investigation, and coordination of hearing processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to accurately analyze and apply legal and policy standards to specific factual situations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals from underrepresented groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations in a professional, confidential, and trauma-informed manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in crisis services or advocacy.
  • Direct experience conducting investigations of cases involving sexual harassment, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, stalking, sexual exploitation, retaliation, or complicity.
  • Experience working with both student and employee populations in higher education.
  • Experience with higher education administrative adjudication processes for students and employees.
  • Experience developing and presenting training, preferably on prohibited sexual harassment and discrimination issues.
