About the Position

The Compliance Investigator plays a critical role in ensuring George Mason University's commitment to providing an inclusive and equitable environment for all members of the community. This position conducts neutral investigations into allegations of sexual and gender-based misconduct, as well as other forms of discrimination, to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Investigations:
    • Conduct thorough and impartial investigations of reported incidents of sexual harassment, gender-based harassment, and other forms of discrimination.
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of the investigatory process.
    • Coordinate with campus partners to ensure a consistent and appropriate response to reported incidents.
    • Stay up-to-date on current laws and regulations related to Title IX, VAWA, and other civil rights laws.
  • Case Outreach and Support:
    • Provide initial outreach and support to individuals who have reported incidents of sexual harassment or other forms of discrimination.
    • Implement supportive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals involved in the investigation.
    • Provide referrals to campus resources and services as needed.
    • Meet with individuals involved in the investigation to gather information and provide support.
  • Campus Training:
    • Assist in the development and delivery of training programs to educate faculty, staff, and students on prohibited forms of discrimination and harassment.
    • Deliver training programs to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting investigations and providing support services
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to Title IX and other civil rights laws
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
