Job Purpose or Mission:

As a key member of the Baton Rouge General team, the Ambulatory Clinical Informatics Analyst plays a vital role in building and maintaining clinical information systems, ensuring seamless integration with patient care areas. This position serves as a liaison between Information Systems and Patient Care Areas, addressing daily operational issues and providing expert guidance on clinical systems.

Job Functions:
  • Act as the primary support contact for the application's end-users.
  • Identify issues that arise in their application area and work to resolve them.
  • Guide workflow design, building, and testing the system, and analyze technical issues associated with Epic software.
  • Identify and implement requested changes to the system.
  • Serve as a liaison between end-users' workflow needs and Epic implementation staff.
  • Maintain regular communication with Epic representatives, including participating in weekly project team meetings.
  • Work with Epic representatives, the organization's business community, and end-users to ensure the system meets the organization's business needs regarding project deliverables and timeline.
  • Develop an understanding of operational needs to set the direction for the organization's workflows by attending site visits and other integrated sessions.
  • Participate in training and work with end-users.
  • Troubleshoot problems and questions.
  • Review the status of projects and issues on an ongoing basis with leadership.
  • Hold weekly communications with team members to discuss the status of deliverables, shared issues, end-user concerns, budget, and upcoming milestones.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED preferred, or 2 years' work experience. Clinical experience 3-5 years in a healthcare setting.

Education Requirements:

Current Louisiana license as a clinical professional preferred. Registered Nurse preferred.

Special Skill, License, and Knowledge Requirements:

Experience with personal computers (2-3 years). PC hardware troubleshooting experience helpful. Informatics analysts gain in-depth knowledge of the software by attending training at Epic and completing application certification projects and tests.

HIPAA Requirements:

Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position, including medical records, patient demographics, lab results, patient financial information, and patient-related complaints.

Safety Requirements:

Maintain knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position, including incident reporting, exposure control plan, and hand washing for all age groups.
