Position Overview:

As a Refrigeration Systems Technician, your primary responsibility will be to conduct preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and perform mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure the ammonia refrigeration systems and the facility operate safely and efficiently.
  • Hourly wage: $36.20

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair anhydrous ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems and associated machinery
  • Perform daily safety checks, detect and rectify leaks, and ensure accurate temperature monitoring
  • Regularly assess techniques, procedures, facilities, and equipment for efficiency
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, production, and processing teams to enhance machine availability
  • Identify and suggest enhancements for equipment and overall operational efficiency
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Conduct scheduled safety assessments of various equipment and confirm all safety mechanisms are functional
  • Manage additional tasks and responsibilities as required
Candidate Profile:
  • Safety-oriented with the capability to operate complex, automated machinery safely
  • A collaborative team member with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Experienced in troubleshooting utility equipment, including NH3 refrigeration systems, boilers, and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in ammonia refrigeration, ideally in roles such as Utilities Mechanic / Technician, Refrigeration Technician, Refrigeration Mechanic, Ammonia Operator, or similar
  • Preferred certifications or training in Ammonia Refrigeration (CIRO, CARO, Industrial Refrigeration Operator, RETA, etc.) and/or boiler operation
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) is advantageous
