Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Refrigeration Systems Technician, your primary responsibility will be to execute preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and perform mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure the ammonia refrigeration systems and the facility operate safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair anhydrous ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems and associated equipment
  • Conduct daily safety assessments, identify and rectify leaks, and ensure accurate temperature monitoring
  • Continuously assess methods, procedures, facilities, and equipment for improvement
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, production, and processing teams to enhance machine availability
  • Identify and suggest enhancements for equipment and overall operational efficiency
  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards and maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Perform routine safety inspections on various equipment and ensure all safety mechanisms are functional
  • Manage additional projects and responsibilities as required

Candidate Profile:

  • Safety-oriented with the capability to operate safely on intricate, automated machinery
  • A collaborative team member with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Experienced in troubleshooting utility equipment, including Anhydrous Ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems, boilers, and wastewater treatment systems
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in ammonia refrigeration, ideally in roles such as Utilities Mechanic / Technician, Refrigeration Technician, Refrigeration Mechanic, Ammonia Operator, or similar
  • Preferred certifications or training in Ammonia Refrigeration (CIRO, CARO, Industrial Refrigeration Operator, RETA, etc.) and/or boiler operation
  • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) is advantageous
