Job Overview:
The State of Nebraska is seeking a meticulous Financial Auditor to enhance the integrity of the gaming sector. This role is essential in ensuring that gaming operators adhere to financial regulations and standards. We are looking for a dedicated professional with a strong background in finance who is ready to contribute to our mission of regulatory excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of financial statements and reports from licensed gaming operators to ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Execute detailed audit procedures to verify adherence to established guidelines and legal requirements.
• Perform field audits and reviews of financial and statistical records for gaming entities.
• Design and implement forensic audits to improve operational efficiencies within the gaming industry.
• Analyze financial data and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
• Prepare and provide testimony regarding audit results in various regulatory contexts.
• Adapt to additional responsibilities as the needs of the Commission evolve.

Qualifications:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting

Legal Requirements: This position is subject to Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 - Minimum Standards for Government Employees Identified as Auditors. A bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent, with at least 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing, is required.

Preferred: 2+ years of experience in financial auditing.

Additional Requirements: Reliable attendance and a valid driver's license are essential. Occasional travel to operator sites may be required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting, including GAAP.
  • Interest in the operational and regulatory frameworks of the gaming industry.
  • Analytical skills to detect financial discrepancies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for summarizing complex information.
  • Proficiency in preparing reports and ensuring financial data accuracy.
