Key Responsibilities:
• Assess statistical and financial operations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Plan and execute investigative audits.
• Utilize statistical analysis techniques on data sets.
• Conduct preliminary audit research.
• Educate clients on relevant statutes and regulations.
• Gather and compile data from audits.
• Draft various documents including correspondence, work papers, and audit reports.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in business administration or accounting.
Legal Requirements: Positions in this classification must meet Title 42, Nebraska Administrative Code, Chapter 1 - Minimum Standards for Government Employees identified as Auditors. A Bachelor's degree in business administration or equivalent, with at least 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing, is required.
Preferred Qualifications: A combination of education and experience in business and accounting is desirable.
Additional Requirements: A valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent transportation is necessary. Availability for occasional travel, including overnight stays, is required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of auditing and accounting principles, standards, and practices.
- Proficiency in Word, Access, and Excel.
- Strong analytical and computer skills.
- Effective communication skills in person, by phone, and through written correspondence.
- Ability to interpret and apply financial principles to analytical situations.
- Capacity to exercise independent judgment in various settings.
- Creativity and decisiveness in evaluating information against measurable criteria.
