Unit Mission:

The Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU is dedicated to evolving the Division of Adolescent Medicine into a premier academic entity focused on outstanding clinical services, education, and research across clinical, translational, and fundamental domains.

Position Overview:

The Division of Adolescent Medicine is in search of a qualified physician to enhance our clinical and educational initiatives. The division is responsible for delivering educational programs and clinical services within an academic outpatient adolescent health framework. This role includes opportunities for collaboration with juvenile detention facilities, community outreach, and partnerships with adolescent gynecology and child/adolescent psychiatry. The position also entails teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.

Key Responsibilities:

Education:
The faculty member will have educational duties in the field of Adolescent Medicine, providing mentorship and guidance to residents and chief residents.

Research:
The faculty member should possess a solid understanding of basic research methodologies and actively engage in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.

Service:
The faculty member will participate in departmental or School of Medicine committees as appropriate, as well as contribute to professional activities such as journal reviews and conference presentations.

Clinical Duties:
The faculty member will oversee the clinical operations of the Division of Adolescent Medicine, supporting the clinical objectives of the Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU Health system.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Board Certification in General Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Proven experience in educating house staff, medical students, and other learners
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse environment among faculty, staff, and students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sub-board certification and/or additional advanced degree
  • Experience in advocacy at various levels
  • Track record of securing funding through grants or contracts
