Primary Objective of this Role:
The Division of Adolescent Medicine is responsible for educational initiatives and clinical services within an academic outpatient adolescent health framework. The role includes opportunities for collaboration with juvenile justice facilities, community engagement, and partnerships with adolescent gynecology and child/adolescent psychiatry. The position necessitates providing education and mentorship to medical students, residents, and fellows.
Key Responsibilities:
Education
The faculty member will have educational duties in the field of Adolescent Medicine, offering guidance and mentorship to Residents and Chief Residents.
Research
The faculty member will possess a solid understanding of fundamental research methodologies and will engage in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.
Service
The faculty member will participate in departmental or School of Medicine committees as appropriate, along with professional contributions through journal reviews and conference presentations.
Clinical Practice
The faculty member will oversee the clinical operations of the Division of Adolescent Medicine, supporting the clinical mission of VCU Health.
Essential Qualifications:
- Board Certification in General Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
- Experience working with adolescent populations
- Experience in educating house-staff, medical students, and others
- Proven experience in fostering a diverse environment or a commitment to do so as a faculty member
Desirable Qualifications:
- Sub-board certification or an additional advanced degree
- Experience in advocacy at various levels
- Proven success in securing funding through grants or contracts
