Position Overview:

The Division of Adolescent Medicine is in search of a qualified physician to enhance our academic and clinical offerings. This division is responsible for educational and clinical duties within an outpatient adolescent health framework. There are opportunities for collaboration with juvenile detention facilities, community advocacy, and partnerships with adolescent gynecology and child/adolescent psychiatry. The role necessitates teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.

Key Responsibilities:

Education:
The faculty member will be tasked with educational duties in Adolescent Medicine, providing mentorship and guidance to Residents and Chief Residents in this specialty.

Research:
The faculty member should possess a solid understanding of fundamental research methodologies and engage in clinical, translational, and outcomes research.

Service:
The faculty member will participate in departmental or School of Medicine committees as appropriate, along with professional contributions through journal reviews and conference presentations.

Clinical Duties:
The faculty member will oversee the clinical operations of the Division of Adolescent Medicine, supporting the clinical objectives of the CHoR within the VCU Health system.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Board Certification in General Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
  • Experience working with adolescent populations
  • Background in educating house-staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals
  • Proven commitment to fostering a diverse environment among faculty, staff, and students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sub-board certification or additional advanced degree
  • Experience in advocacy at various levels
  • Track record of successful revenue generation through grants or contracts
