The Children's Hospital of Richmond, part of the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, is dedicated to establishing the Endocrinology Pediatrics Division as a premier academic unit focused on outstanding clinical care, education, and research in clinical, translational, and basic sciences. Our mission emphasizes enhancing the mental and behavioral health of children and families through comprehensive clinical services, innovative research, educational initiatives, and community outreach within the Pediatric Endocrinology Division.

Primary Objective of the Role:

The Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center's Department of Psychiatry, in partnership with the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism, is looking for a full-time psychologist. This role will involve delivering clinical services, engaging in research, providing teaching and supervision, and developing programs for children and adolescents facing obesity, diabetes, and other endocrine challenges. The distribution of responsibilities will be tailored based on the candidate's qualifications and available funding.

The selected candidate will hold a faculty position within the Department of Pediatrics at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

Key Responsibilities:
**Teaching** - Instructing and mentoring fellows, students, staff, and professionals in clinical assessments, therapeutic interventions, and program development. **Research** - Supporting ongoing funded research projects, applying for grants as suitable, and contributing to the dissemination of scientific knowledge through writing articles and delivering presentations. **Service** - Participating in departmental and university committees as needed, and engaging in activities organized by advocacy and service groups for individuals with autonomic disorders. **Clinical Practice** - Providing evidence-based psychological and health interventions to children, adolescents, and young adults with obesity, type 1 and 2 diabetes, and other endocrine disorders as part of a multidisciplinary team in an outpatient setting. The team comprises physicians, dietitians, exercise physiologists, nurses, surgeons, and specialists in obesity medicine. The psychologist will deliver outpatient clinical services to patients with eating and weight disorders in this specialized care environment. Services will encompass consultations, diagnostic assessments, individual, group, and family therapy, as well as evaluations for pre-bariatric surgery psychological assessments. This role is integral to the interdisciplinary weight management and endocrine teams, particularly within the Healthy Lifestyles Center, recognized as a Center of Excellence for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery with qualifications for adolescents. Responsibilities include timely documentation of clinical activities, collaboration with team members, and maintaining professional credentials as required by the institution and relevant regulatory bodies. **Administrative Duties** - Leading the development and advancement of the clinical and programmatic objectives of the Healthy Lifestyles Center and psychology services within the Division of Endocrinology. Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited doctoral program, including an approved internship. Completion of a postdoctoral fellowship in clinical child, pediatric, or health psychology, demonstrating 12 months of supervised post-graduate experience in relevant settings. Proficiency in psychological assessment, therapeutic techniques, family education, and chronic illness management. Experience working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. Eligibility for Virginia state licensure and board certification. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with leadership capabilities. Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment. Commitment to fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in family-based behavioral weight management for children and adolescents; familiarity with chronic illness management in youth and their families. Background in developing and delivering patient education and support programs. Excellent writing skills, evidenced by co-authorship of peer-reviewed publications focused on youth or young adults. Proven track record of funded research, grant applications, and scholarly contributions (publications/presentations). Experience in clinical supervision or teaching roles. Relevant experience with pediatric diabetes and/or pediatric weight management research and treatment is highly desirable. Application Process:
