About the Role

Sodexo is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Services Operations Manager to join our team at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our custodial services, ensuring the highest level of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and evaluate staff performance to ensure timely completion of custodial operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Facilities Management: Oversee the general appearance of assigned buildings through regular inspections.
  • Project Management: Schedule, supervise, and evaluate projects; monitor special event preparations.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, written and verbal communication, and software skills.
  • Position Card Management: Review position cards to ensure they are correct and efficient working with supervisors.
  • Hiring and Onboarding: Hire team members, documenting timely interviews following Sodexo timeline and policy.
  • Program Management: Maintain Sodexo custodial SMS program as well as CMMS work control program.
  • Maintenance and Projects: Review maintenance requirements and project proposals, monitor results of projects and programs.
  • Operating Standards: Establish operating standards, implement quality improvements, and communicate them to employees.
  • Policies and Procedures: Monitor and review policies and procedures and productivity standards for staff, take action to amend, correct or improve performance, develop job specifications and training manuals, and train our team.
  • Meetings and Reviews: Meet with supervisors to review schedules, concerns, issues, and review issues and concerns and maintain consistency with procedures, cleaning practices, training, counseling, and reviews.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality control inspections and follow-up, meet established timelines, oversee contractors' performance, and monitor work scheduled to ensure timely completion.
  • Budget Management: Manage the budget by controlling costs for labor, inventory, equipment, and materials, complying with budget requirements, and making adjustments when needed.
  • Technical Proficiency: Possess technical proficiency in custodial services, including Housekeeping techniques, knowledge of all cleaning product chemicals, equipment, and their hazards.
  • Program Implementation: Maintain and implement the use of Sodexo custodial SMS program as well as the use of the CMMS work control program.
  • Employee Management: Manage by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees in order to reward, coach, correct, and motivate them.
  • Purchasing and Procurement: Coordinate with the purchasing department to procure materials and services; monitor purchases within budgetary constraints.
  • Safety and Security: Establish a safe work environment for employees by providing safety-related training and equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Work Planning and Direction: Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise employee performance; reward and discipline employees; and address complaints and resolve problems with support and guidance from our HR manager.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Basic Education Requirement: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Basic Management Experience: 3 years.
  • Basic Functional Experience: 3 years of work experience in Housekeeping, Environmental, or Custodial Services.
